Would you like to do something extraordinary in your bedroom?

How about creating a very nice headboard above your bed, that will make your room twice as nice with only a few hours work. We will show you how it is done – step by step.

It’s a project that anyone should be able to do themselves. And what a difference it makes!

In this project the Akupanel – Walnut was used.

Enjoy the video!

  • A level
  • A ruler
  • A saw, circular saw or a wagtail.
  • Screws
  • A hollow drill

… and of course some acoustical panels.

The steps are...

Step 1: Horizontally or vertically?

There is more than one way to make a headboard. You can choose to either do it with vertical slats or horizontal slats.

The first step is for you to decide on what you want to do.

Step 2: Find the middle of the wall.

First and foremost you need to find out where to place the panels. Most people chose to place the panels precisely in the middle of the wall behind the bed, which I personally find to be the best looking solution.

Put markings on the wall where you want to place the panels with a pencil.

Step 3: Cut the panels.

An acoustical panel is 240 cm in length and 60 cm wide. Depending on the width of your bed, you might have to cut the panels in order to make it fit. You can cut the lamellas with either a normal saw, a circular saw or a jigsaw.

The filt can be cut by using any knife – it’s super easy.

If you have to fit electrical outlets on the headboard, then you start drilling a hole for the saw – you can see how to in the video above.

Step 4: Mount the panels on the wall.

When you have to install the panels directly on the wall, then you have to check what type of wall it is. In the video above it’s a drywall so in this case we can drive a screw directly through the felt and into the wall.

If it’s a concrete wall that you have, you would have to drill holes and use plugs beforehand.

Done – enjoy your masterpiece.

That wasn’t that hard was it? Now – all you need to do is to brag about your craftsman abilities and your great sense of style. So whenever you get the chance, you should show off!

And you could also post a nice picture on Instagram (#mywoodupp) – we would love to see it.
